Social Activities:
Fifth Sundays:
Whenever there is a fifth Sunday in a month, we have a Bring and Share lunch after the service. This is a wonderful opportunity to share food and conversation, and is always very popular.
Women's group:
We have a very active women's group, which is open to all women who attend the Octagon. We meet fortnightly on a Thursday for outings, discussions, walks, or other activities suggested by members. Over the next few weeks we have the following activities planned, but these are always subject to change. Please contact us for further details.
Men's group:
The men's group meets on the second Wednesday of each month, and has recently enjoyed trips to the cinema. Various activities are planned for future months, and all men who attend the Octagon are welcome to join in.
Craft evening:
On alternate Thursdays, a very popular craft group meets at the house of one of our members. Activities have included knitting, patchwork and quilting, blanket making and crochet. There have been several projects for charity, and you are very welcome either to join in a group project or to bring along your own piece of work. We are always open to suggestions for new crafts, and to being taught new skills.
Other social activities:
As well as the regular social activities at the Octagon, there is a variety of one-offs. We have had barbecues and outings with visitors from Romania, and last Autumn we held a very well attended Harvest Supper in aid of charity.
Future plans include a quiz evening and a summer outing, probably to the coast.
Octagon Concert Series:
The Octagon is proud of its musical heritage. As well as a vibrant musical aspect to our worship, we host the very successful Octagon Concert Series, which raises money for various charities. Further details on the concerts can be found at www.octagonmusic.org.uk.
